Daniel Field has spent his entire working life questioning how hairdressing is done.

Not for the sake of doing things differently, but because when a product or technique could be more effective, gentler or safer, he believed it should be.

For more than four decades, that has meant working in two worlds: his salons and his laboratory.

The salon shows us what people and their hair actually need.

The laboratory gives us the opportunity to do something about it.

FROM HAIRDRESSER TO DEVELOPER

Daniel began his career as a hairdresser in 1978.

Working directly with clients made him increasingly interested not only in what hairdressers did, but in the products and chemistry that made it possible.

Could hair be coloured differently? Could it be lightened while better protecting its condition? Could products be developed for people whose hair or scalp couldn’t comfortably tolerate conventional approaches?

Those questions took Daniel from simply using hairdressing products to developing the products, techniques and systems themselves.

FROM ORGANIC & MINERAL TO SENSITIVE FIRST.

What began in 1981 as Organic & Mineral Hairdressing evolved as our knowledge, products and experience developed.

Today we call it:

SENSITIVE FIRST HAIRDRESSING.

It doesn’t mean hairdressing only for people with sensitive hair or scalps.

It means everything we develop is considered against three equally important requirements:
